5.ServicingandMaintenance
5.11 Lubricating the
Machine
Please read the section entitled “Using
Lubricants”carefullybeforelubricatingthe
machine.
Themachinemustbelubricatedregularlyin
orderforittoremainserviceable.Regular
lubrication also contributes towards
extendingtheservicelifeofyourmachine.
Therecommendedlubricatingintervalsare
speciedin“Inspection”and“Maintenance
Intervals”.
After it has been washed using a high-
pressure hose or steam cleaned, the
machineshouldalwaysbelubricatedusing
agreasegun.
5.12 Handling of
Lubricants
Pleaseensurethatyoureadthefollowing
instructions as well as the relevant
information.Thisalsoappliestoanyofyour
employeeswhohandlelubricants.
Hygiene
Lubricantsdonotpresentahealthhazard
provided they are used for their specied
purpose.
In the case of prolonged skin contact,
lubricants - especially low-viscosity oils
- may remove the natural layer of fat
containedintheskin,resultingin dryness
andpossibleirritation.
It is important totake extreme carewhen
handlingwasteoilasitmaycontainother
irritants.
Vapours givenoffbycleaningagents and
oilsarealsoapotentialhealthhazard.
You should therefore not carry any oily
clothsaround.Changesoiledworkclothing
assoonaspossible.
Alwaysexerciseextremecareandobserve
the recommended hygiene rules when
handling mineral oil products. Details of
these handling regulations can be found
in information provided by the health
authorities.
Storage and Handling
•Alwaysstorelubricantswheretheycannot
beaccessedbychildren.
• Never store lubricants in open or
unlabelledcontainers.
Fresh Oil
• Apart from taking the usual care and
observinghygienerules,thereisno need
to take any special precautions when
handlingfreshoil.
Waste Oil
•Wasteoilcancontainharmfulcontaminants
whichmaycauseskincancer,allergiesand
otherillnesses.
Attention!
Oilisatoxicsubstance.Shouldyouswallow
anyoil,donottrytovomit.Contactadoctor
immediately.
Protect your hands with barrier cream or
wearglovestoavoidcontactwiththeskin.
Washoffany tracesofoilthoroughlywith
soapandhotwater.
•Washyourskinthoroughlywithsoapand
water.
•Usespecialcleaningagentstocleanany
dirtoffyourhands.
•Neverwashoilresiduefromyourskinwith
petrol,dieselfuelorparafn.
•Avoidskincontactwithanyoilyclothing.
•Donotkeepanyoilyragsinyourpockets.
• Wash soiled clothing before wearing it
again.
•Ensurethatanyoilyfootwearisdisposed
ofinthepropermanner.
