Planting too much
Incorrect seed rate or sprocket combina-
tion.
Check seed rate information. Refer to
Seed Rate Charts manual.
Incorrect seed size for meter wheel can
cause doubles
Replace meter wheels to match seed
Wrong seed meter wheel installed. Install correct seed meter wheel.
Seed size and weight vary from volumet-
ric chart.
Adjust transmission or tire pressure.
Actual field size is different. Verify field size.
Excessive overlap. Irregular shaped field. Adjust marker, page 25.
Incorrect tire size or air pressure. Correct tire size and air pressure,
page 77.
Meter clean out door is open. Close and pin meter clean out door,
page 63.
Seed meter wheel spring or retaining cap
damaged or missing.
Check seed meter wheel spring and
retaining cap, page 39.
Incorrect seed meter wheel for seed size. Verify seed count on seed bag with seed
meter wheel.
Meter wheel or finger pickup has more
cells than indicated on seed rate chart.
Charts are based on either 6 finger or 12
finger meters or various wheel cell counts.
Seed meter wheel not seated correctly on
meter shaft.
Check installation of seed meter wheel,
page 39.
Seed meter wheel damaged or missing. Check seed meter wheel and replace if
damaged.
Seed meter slide is sticking open. Remove and clean seed meter slide and
check for wear, page 64.
Worn meter components Replace worn components
Brush too loose on finger pickup meter Adjust brush, page 43
Wrong wheel for opener Green wheel for 25 series and black
wheel for 20 series.
Acremeter does not
measure accurately
Note: Acremeter is most
accurate when
seeding back and
forth with markers
with few head-
lands, curves and
point-rows.
Acremeter readings are approximate, and may not be precise for your row configura-
tion. They are also affected by gauge wheel slippage and passes on curves. Readings
count all motion, including pass turn-arounds.
Incorrect tire size or air pressure Correct tire size or air pressure, page 77.
Excessive overlap or gaps between
passes.
Avoid overlap or gaps. Check marker
adjustment, page 25.
Soil conditions. Loose soil and slippage will cause varia-
tions in acres registered.
Check that acremeter is for your width of
drill.
Refer to drill parts manual.
Actual field size different. Verify field size.
