Hitching Tractor to Planter
Crushing Hazard:
Do not stand or place any body part between planter and
moving tractor. You may be severely injured or killed by being
crushed between the tractor and planter. Stop tractor engine
and set parking brake before attaching cables and hoses.
To prevent soil compaction on rows, set tractor wheels
between rows. For hillsides and steep slopes, set tractor
wheels as wide as possible for maximum stability.
Refer to Figure 3
1. Use the jack crank to raise and lower the planter
tongue. See “Leveling Planter” on page 18.
Refer to Figure 4
2. After hitching the tractor to the planter, use the
crank to fully retract the jack foot. Remove the
pin that secures the jack to the tongue stob.
Remove the jack and re-pin counter-clockwise 90° at
the storage stob on the left rear side of the tongue
tube. Re-secure with pin.
3. Secure the planter safety chain to an anchor point on
the tractor rated for the maximum weight of the
planter.
